Job Description – India Public Sector Channels and Alliances Head

Would you like to be part of a team that is redefining the IT industry? Amazon’s new product line Amazon Web Services (AWS) is leading the next paradigm shift in cloud computing globally. Amazon Internet Services Private Limited (AISPL), an Indian Amazon affiliate, is looking for world class candidates to lead its Public Sector Channels and Alliances Team, focusing on developing and managing relationships with key partners and system integrators in the Indian region. Specifically, this role will focus on leading a team of Partner Managers working with Partners focused on Public Sector opportunities working across State / Central government, Power, Smart Cities, Education, Public Healthcare and Non-Profit Organizations, and driving revenue through the hundreds of innovative services companies, who are using AWS as their cloud delivery platform.

As the Channels and Alliances Head for India Public Sector, within AISPL, you will have the exciting opportunity to help shape and deliver on a strategy to build mind share and broad use of Amazon’s utility computing and advanced web services (including Amazon S3, Amazon EC2, Amazon CloudFront, Amazon RDS, Machine Learning, Security) within various partners, system integrators and solution providers. Your broad responsibilities will include defining and executing against the partner program for India, establishing business and technical relationships, and managing the day-to-day interactions with these organizations in order to build long-term business and marketing opportunities. The ideal candidate will possess both a business background that enables them to drive an engagement and interact at the CXO/VP level, as well as a technical background that enables them to easily interact with software developers and architects. He/she should also have a demonstrated ability to think strategically about business, product, and technical challenges, with the ability to build and convey compelling value propositions.

Roles & Responsibilities:
  • Serve as a key member of the leadership team of the India Public Sector business in helping to drive overall alliance strategy
  • Work with Tier 1 and Tier 2 partners to define and execute joint marketing and Go to Market (GTM) programs focused on the public sector market.
  • Onboard ISVs and resellers focused on Public sector market for AISPL
  • Have a fair understanding of cloud technologies (level 200)
  • Work with Partners and internal AISPL teams to enable bidding in Public sector projects and meet government procurement norms and at the same time, in compliance with Amazon’s global standards and policies
  • Leverage Partner eco-system to get empaneled on rate contracts of government agencies.
  • Develop a group of committed partners including a plan to recruit, on-board and measure Consulting Partners in India.
  • Build and execute a plan to develop the competency of the partners in India, have them engage in more Public Sector business, and grow overall AISPL revenue through the partners.
  • Execute strategic partner business development plans while working with key internal stakeholders within AISPL (e.g. service teams, legal, support, etc.).
  • Work with specific partners to develop the business value proposition for using web services for Public Sector opportunities.
  • Work with specific partners to educate and enable them for using AWS cloud solutions
  • Have the technical knowledge to help partners team to leverage on AWS cloud for basic cloud solutions.
  • Fill the business development pipeline by engaging with prospects and key customers
  • Prepare and give business reviews to the senior management team regarding progress against plan and roadblocks to closing new customers and recruiting and managing partners.
  • Manage complex contract interactions for AISPL contracts and serve as a liaison to the legal group
Develop long-term strategic partnerships in support of the market
  • Enroll partners in appropriate APN Partner programs.
  • Handle ad-hoc incoming inquiries and qualify them as potential AISPL revenue opportunities.



Basic qualifications
  • The right person will have a balanced technical and analytical background and possess extensive business development experience.
  • Extensive understanding of Indian Public Sector market and Partner eco-system
  • Understanding of procurement processes and government rate contracts of key government agencies.
  • Experience working within the enterprise software industry especially in the virtualization, public cloud or enterprise software spaces.
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills are a must, as well as the ability to work effectively across internal and external organizations.
  • Exposure to and experience in developing partner and channel programs to deliver sustainable revenue
  • Strong operational skills and attention to detail.
  • Technical sales experience
  • Bachelor’s degree required
