Job Description

Purpose:

The R&A finance analyst will focus on world class finance and operational excellence in the delivery of their process responsibilities. They will build a deep knowledge of the outputs required and ways of working to deliver these, along with the tools and systems that are an integral enabler of the process. They will work collaboratively with colleagues in R&A and their peers from other processes where operational excellence or data integrity impacts on the R&A delivery.

The role will have a mix of deliverables between complex accounting and reporting activities. Ensuring business transactions are accounted either automatically or manually in line with the Standard Global Processes as well as Shell and External accounting guidelines or to build accounted numbers into standard reports. This could be through automation of systems or manual interventions

Accountabilities:

Complete all assigned complex process activities (General Leger, Group Reporting, Management Information, Fixed assets, Statutory and others) in a timely and accurate and first time right manner.
Prepare/Post Manual Journal entries.
Reconcile/Review/Analyse balance sheet accounts and submit the same in Blackline tool. Reportable items identified as part of reconciliation to be resolved within the stipulated time frame.
Understand and adhere to the requisite of the Shell Control Frame Work. Execute applicable controls on or before the timeline, obtain approval and retain the evidence as per Group Record Management.
Analyse Trial balance on a monthly basis and present the same to respective legal entity controller(s) and/or Senior Controllers.
Compare the Plan vs Actuals and provide the business acumen to onshore organisation, comprising of controllers and Central Planning Team.
Providing Management Information System to P&T MIPA team.
Quarterly Financial reporting in other words known as BOFC reporting is one of the key deliverable. Strict adherence to the time line is Mandatory, both in Intra Group Pre-Clearance (IGPC) and Actual consolidated reporting.
Ensure IG imbalances are reconciled and fixed before the quarter close. Strict adherence to IGPC policy is mandatory.
Identify Hot Spots and log the same in Learning From Incidents (LCI) tool. Work closely with onshore team or relevant parties to resolve the same.
Assist in Adhoc requests which are requested by team managers or stake holders.
Resolve and escalate issues timely and effectively.
Initiate and support process improvements.
Comply with team, center, process and global policies and procedures.
Analysis of commercial business by Legal entity and settlement with cost sharers wherever required.
Finding of Under/Over recovery that has taken up for recovery in tariff setting.
Calculation of IP Fee to be paid to the Parent company of P&T.
Providing financials of P&T for transfer pricing document preparation.
Liaise with business finance managers, VPs (if required), Planning team, tax, Legal, LSR and senior controllers in determining Domain (Under Over recovery & Satellite) calculation and At Cost Certification.

Dimensions:
R&A Finance Analyst support Group Reporting, Controllers and Finance Managers in their work for the Shell Project & Technology businesses.
R&A Finance Analyst will have close interaction with the various stakeholders within FO (inside and outside R&A), Group Reporting as well as various class of business.

Company Description

The aim of the Shell Business Operations, Chennai is to provide the Group with operational excellence through highlighting and utilizing process improvements and functional efficiencies as well as by leveraging economies of scale. Currently, the Chennai centre provides a wide range of finance, accounting and business services to Shell operating companies across several business sectors globally.
Set up in September 2007, the Chennai centre has grown rapidly and now , in its fourth year of operations , it has crossed the 1600 staff mark. The centre is located in the RMZ Millennia Business Park, where the Shell campus is a LEED Platinum building with world class infrastructure. The business is expected to grow further over the next two years and infrastructural additions to support this have been planned.
The main focus in Chennai is on Finance Operations which supports delivery of the global Finance functional plan. There is also a ‘Downstream India’ - Customer Services Team that handles lubricant depot ordering within the country. The Shell Business Operations (SBO Team) manages the centre facilities and supports business partners’ operations on site. There is a strong focus at SBO on safety & well being of staff and on its three core values: Compliance, Intervention & Respect.

Requirements

Experience and Qualifications required:

The candidate should have experience of Accounting, Financial Controls, Reporting and Analysis.
We Look for:
Finance/Accounting Professionals with 3-5 years of post-qualification experience.
Thorough understanding of financial and management accounting.
Prior experience of General Ledger/Manage Close is an added advantage.
MI experience will be an added advantage.
Excellent and advanced level of excel working experience.
Analytical, systems/process and strong accounting skills, with the ability to recognize underlying issues and develop appropriate resolutions.
Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
CI mind set, able to identify ESSA opportunities and manage change.
To be a very good team player.
