Description
Job Purpose :
Organize, coordinate and monitor implementation of Safety procedures and building safe working environment and enhance productivity of unit.

1. Facilitating to management & line managers for effective implementation of EHS system:
To plan, organize & coordinate with senior management for effective implementation of SHE principle, policy and safe work practices to improve the EHS performance of the organization to achieve goals & targets.
  • Create value for the involvement of all line managers in the safety effort through the development of an inclusive safety culture.
  • Plan, arrange, conducting and review the Unit APEX SHE Committee for effective functioning as per the Charter & action plan align with EHS board.
  • Coaching to senior leadership about the way they should audit their own actions against safety principle & policy.
  • Encouraging five subcommittees to adhere their charter & action plan by attending the five subcommittee’s (SC) monthly meeting.
  • Facilitate to take the strategic decisions in the five subcommittees in line with their respective EHS boards SCs and Unit APEX charter & action plan.
  • Coaching to subcommittees members to understand their role & responsibilities on his existence in the respective SCs.
  • To communicate, monitor, & evaluation of compliance on recommendations on black corner notice & safety improvements initiatives from the EHS board.
  • To enhance the quality of investigation, coaching to incident investigation team in line with Incident Investigation 8 steps process for the incident took place every month.
  • Identify, Plan and Coordinate resources, budget for Safety standard implementation in line with Safety Excellence journey.
  • Develop Short term and Long Term Safety plan aligned with Safety board and Corporate Safety vision document and ensure implementation.
  • Track and monitor First party and 2nd party audit recommendations and give feedback to site apex and Corporate Safety on compliance.
  • Provide constant feedback to senior leaders and influence line function to ensure involvement of line function in safety.
  • Guide, support and provide platform to line function to demonstrate felt leadership.
  • Facilitate process to ensure high level compliance to Safety principles, Life Saving rule and its uniform implementation across site
  • Implement reward and Progressive consequence management policy across the site.
  • Periodically review, analyse site Safety leading and lagging indicators and identify key issues / critical areas and facilitate process (site level adhoc sub-committee) to manage issues.
  • Plant inspection, develop checklist, monitor the implementation, participation in departmental meetings and coordinate for purchase of PPEs. Generate and review of reports and analysis of accidents and feedback to departmental heads. Conducting training programs (internal and external) and audits.
2. Safety promotion:
To enhance the safety culture on shop floor, Identify and formulate programmes motivational program.

  • Participating in daily safety tool box meeting for involving all employees & contractual workforce in safety aspects.
  • Observing theme of the month of safety at-least 5 times in a year.
  • Week-long celebration of “National Safety Day “by performing various class room safety competitions and demonstration of safety gazettes.
  • Plan and prepare safety budget
  • Safety awards and recognition schemes, safety display boards/ slogans, Safety awareness campaign, safety week. Also involves planning and budgeting for these events

3. Statutory compliance:
To monitor statutory compliance requirements pertaining to safety rules and regulations
  • Organize safety committee meetings
  • Organize reports of accidents and sending the information to concerned Govt. authorities.
  • Third party safety audit
  • Conducting pre-table top, performing Mock drill and post table top discussion.
  • Review the activity and reports of inspection, testing & certification of equipments as per safety norms, e.g., lift, hoists, cranes, pressure vessels & lifting tools-tackles etc. Highlight the deviations/ gaps
  • Review structural stability survey reports from competent person and highlight the deviations/ gaps.
  • Review the reports of inspection, testing & certification of structural stability by Govt. recognized competent person
  • Organize safety committee meetings, Organize inspection of equipment as per safety norms like – lift, hoists, cranes and pressure vessels. Preparation of reports of accidents to be sent to IR. Conduct mock drills to check emergency preparedness.
  • 4. OHSAS: 18001
  • Development review & improvement of OHSAS 18001 (2007) system to achieve high standards of safety SA 8000 as a SHE Leader
  • Action plan for effective implementation of OHSAS standard.
  • To facilitate departments to identify activities, associated hazards and & control procedure as per OHSAS 18001.
  • Co-ordination with all departments for effective implementation of SA 8000
  • Plan, approach, deployment, assessment & review of SHE aspect across the unit.
  • Regular audits, review and improvement
  • Development of systems, regular audits, review and improvement.

5. Liasioning with Govt. officials - Support to Unit HR in effective liasioning with Jt. DISH, Dy. DISH and DISH (Factory Inspector offices)
  • To establish the good relationship with chairman of GPCB and other stakeholders.
  • To ensure the compliance on applicable EHS rules and regulation in the organization.

6. Implementation of Corporate guidelines of safety
  • In alignment with Corporate (ABG/ P&FB) guidelines, develop and implement site specific procedures at unit
  • Monitoring the KPIs for progress of the implementation Standard
  • Reporting and sharing data in Enablon and other similar platforms/ forums (Monthly and as required)

Qualifications
Any Graduate & Post Graduate Diploma in Industrial Safety.
