Responsible for leading the all terminal operations team during the shift with main task to maintain and create safe working conditions while ensuring and maintaining a high productivity and cost efficient operation.
Ensure compliance with HSSE policies & procedures by all shift operational staff.
Ensure a cost efficient operation in excess of current best practices.
Liaise closely with shipping companies, customs agents, trucking companies, Customs, port authorities, and other statutory authorities to ensure that their requirements are met.
Responsibility that all superintendents, supervisors, operators, labour & other staff (both GPPL & contracted) in the operation are trained in best operation practices.
Ensure compliance with policies, guidelines, safety regulations and relevant maritime legislation.
Preferable a university degree in logistics, maritime and port engineering Minimum 5 years in operations management roles in container terminals.
Understanding of the container shipping industry and an ability to relate with shipping company and other associated industry managers.
Good communication skills with the ability to communicate across the organisation.
Fluent in local language (where applicable) and English.
Extensive understanding of modern terminal operations including computer terminal management systems.
