Data Analyst, Regulatory(Job Number: 21527)
Job Purpose :
Primarily responsible for reviewing data to be used in various regulatory reporting filings. Working with internal and external parties to ensure that all regulatory data is collected timely, accurately and loaded into the appropriate systems. Develop and maintain quality checks on the data to ensure accuracy.
Key Responsibilities / Duties:
Develop a strong understanding of end-to-end investment management processes, the required data to support these processes, and the data quality and delivery issues that may impact the business on an on-going basis
Regularly meet with business and technology teams to understand and document their planned efforts and outstanding concerns around data quality and delivery
Monitor automated data quality tools to help identify gaps in the data
Maintain BAU cycles of data aggregation process and loading into regulatory reporting system
Monitor lifecycle from data sourcing, transformation, and enrichment and identify fails, breaks, or changes to target sources received
Conduct UAT testing when rolling out new regulatory filings or added data sources
Conduct review of key financial input data reconciliations for source data (example Trial Balance to holdings file)
Identify and research exceptions
Conduct Level I accuracy and completeness checks on regulatory outputs
Help to compile management reporting dashboards of data quality metrics for the organization
Normal office environment with little exposure to noise, dust and temperatures.
The ability to lift, carry or otherwise move objects of up to 10 pounds is also necessary.
Normally works a regular schedule of hours, however hours may vary depending upon the project or assignment.
Occasional travel will be required.
Work Experience / Knowledge:
One year’s experience of data or business analysis, investment operations or accounting in a financial services firm or professional consultancy organization
Strong technical skills and the ability to pick up new systems/processes quickly
An understanding of the concepts related to data modelling, coding and process flow design
Working knowledge of financial statements, asset classes and derivatives a plus
Skills / Other Personal Attributes Required:
Ability to communicate effectively with different audiences with clarity and conciseness demonstrated by well-developed written and verbal skills, and the ability to deliver content to moderate-sized groups
Organizational skills necessary to meet deadlines, prioritize tasks, and process several streams of work simultaneously
Self-driven and motivated with the ability to independently deliver on assignments
Rich attention to detail to capture and communicate complex topics
Ability to judge the significance of issues and escalate accordingly.
Strong analytical skills and ability to work well in a changing environment.
Ability to understand context and ensure detail is in line with broader objectives demonstrated by clarity of understanding of the benefits of good data quality and associated data governance regime to a financial services firm
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office tools, primarily Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access. Advanced Excel skills a plus.
Ability to utilize tools commonly available, e.g., PowerPoint or Visio, to diagram data or process flows, Tableau, Alteryx, Power BI.
BA/BS in finance or accounting with computing/business analysis courses is required.
OR A Bachelors degree in a discipline demonstrating a logical approach to analysis and the need for contextual understanding backed up with strong work experience
