GDS TAS Lead Advisory

GDS LA team under the TAS umbrella provides assistance to EY member firms on Lead Advisory engagements, which includes M&A Advisory, Capital & Debt Advisory, Infrastructure Advisory, and Transaction Real Estate services.

About the Infrastructure Advisory Team
The Infrastructure Advisory team focusses on engagement delivery and Business Development support across the Transport, Health and Human Services and Power & Utilities sectors with a focus on advice on infrastructure service delivery. As a part of engagement delivery, the team undertakes the following set of activities:
a. Government side tender evaluation support including bidder financial capacity and capability analysis, ad hoc financial analysis, drafting the analysis, commercial support, press monitoring and research.
b. Financial modelling and analysis including building and reviewing long term project finance models
c. Business Case Preparation support including undertaking Cost Benefit Analysis, desktop research and drafting sections of the Business Case, including assessment of delivery models, packaging and staging, qualitative PPP vs non PPP analysis and increasingly, service need and social impact evaluation
d. Desktop research such as benchmarking studies to support various engagements
e. Policy development, including strategies for transport and land use planning.
As a part of the BD support, the practice offices generally require support on the following:
a. Proposal preparation to provide advisory services
b. Company pitch books
c. Sector packs to showcase EY credentials
d. Adhoc research wherever applicable

Job description:
The EY GDS TAS Infrastructure Advisory team is seeking an experienced Infrastructure sector professional with strong client management, team handling, exceptional writing and economic or financial modelling skills to join our team. The individual will support engagements and business development initiatives in the transport, health and human services and power and utilities sectors. The team member is expected to focus on leading the provision of exceptional quality deliverables to practice offices and drive business growth by developing and maintaining strong working relationships with key business decision-makers in practice offices. A key part of the role will be to maintain strong communication with the practice offices and keep them informed of our evolving service offerings in order to drive growth, and willingness to understand the local policy and market environment of client offices they serve.

Primary Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
As a senior member of the sector practice at Infrastructure Advisory, the person would:
  • Leading engagement delivery and BD support related engagements for various practice offices
  • Be responsible for leading client interactions, maintaining an exceptional quality of deliverables, building relationships and support onshore practices in generating new business within the transport (roads, airports, ports, rail), health and human services (healthcare, urban development, education and tourism) and power & utilities (generation, transmission and distribution, water and gas utilities)
  • Take responsibility for driving improvements in the team’s understanding of requirements across key competency and sectors, and translate this into consistently high quality deliverables
  • Assist the practice offices with all forms of high quality deliverables such as :
    • Business Case preparation including cost benefit analysis
    • Government side tender evaluation
    • Financial modelling and analysis
    • Economic modelling and analysis
    • Desktop sector research
    • Any other adhoc requests
  • Assist the practice offices with high quality business development support including:
    • Proposal preparation support
    • Desktop sector research
    • Company Infopacks/Pitch-books
    • Benchmarking studies across key indicators
    • Proposal preparation support
  • Manage a team of 6-7 people and act as a counselor for team members by being responsible for their performance appraisal
  • Maintain strong communications with the clients in practice offices through email, skype, video conferences and any others forms of communication
  • Measure, monitor and improve client service by closely collaborating with the client and guiding team members and driving excellence in service delivery
  • Manage workflow within the team including work allocation, adherence to timelines and quality reviews
  • Identify L&D requirements of counselees
  • Travel on assignments abroad, as required
Competencies / skills:
  • Exceptional business writing and economic or financial modelling skills
  • Demonstrated experience of working in either transport, health and human services or power and utilities sectors preferably with exposure to:
    • High quality written deliverables in a business case or policy development context
    • Leading, preparing and coordinating the delivery of tender responses
    • Economic or financial modelling
    • Various procurement models
    • Undertaking desktop research
    • Leading, preparing and coordinating Company Pitch books and infopacks
  • Prepared responses to tender notices issued by Government as well as multilaterals (Asian Development Bank, World Bank, USAID, DfID)
  • Exhibit strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Possess good project and time management skills with the ability to multiple tasks in parallel
  • Demonstrated communication skills - both written and verbal
  • Have good knowledge of research databases like Factiva, ThomsonONE, Capital IQ, BMI etc.
  • Coach and mentor team members on writing, technical skills and soft skills
  • The ability to maintain strong communication with the on-site teams, and provide value adding ideas on scope of work
  • Be organized and structured in the completion of tasks


Job Specification:
Education & Experience:
  • Minimum of a Master's degree in economics, or finance or Business Administration with 10 to 12 yrs relevant experience working in Infrastructure sector
  • Should have experience of working in either transport, health and human services or power and utilities sectors
  • Demonstrated experience of producing high quality written deliverables, particularly in a business case or policy development context
  • Demonstrated experience of undertaking either economic or financial modelling
