You will be responsible for managing all phases of plant operations, including inventory levels, processing, production, manpower planning, product warehousing and storage. You will also be responsible for hiring and training personnel, as well as facility maintenance and improvements. Reporting to the Country Head, you work closely with Procurement, QA/QC, Supply Chain and other teams as necessary.
Leads the day-to-day operations of the plant and ensures all aspects of the manufacturing process are managed successfully (i.e. staffing, competency levels);
Monitors expenses and implements strategies to reduce costs while maintaining and improving quality and efficiency;
Identifies and resolves production constraints in improving production efficiency;
Collaborates with the Country Head on annual budgets, including the allocation of budgets among departments;
Analyzes and manages workforce requirements effectively;
Collaborates with the Manager of Procurement & Logistics to develop and improve supplier relationships for all imports;
Ensures plant safety and security – collaborates with safety personnel to ensure all staff are aware of safety requirements;
Collaborates with other departments to develop and bring new products to market;
Collaborates with the Commercial/Execution team to execute projects as per client needs, including scheduling dispatch plans to meet weekly/monthly sales targets; and
Conducts performance appraisals, provides coaching and identifies training/development opportunities.
Degree in Manufacturing and/or Operations Management;
8+ years of relevant experience in an agricultural/food/oil seeds manufacturing environment;
5+ years of experience in a leadership/management role;
Strong understanding of safety systems and experience enforcing rules and regulations;
Strong computer skills, including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook;
Proven project management skills;
Knowledge of Total Quality Management (TQM), process optimization, safety standards, materials requirement planning and inventory-level management; and
Ability to communicate in English, both orally and written.
Post-graduate degree in Manufacturing, Operations Management or relevant discipline;
Ability to deliver creative and innovative solutions;
Comfortable working a dynamic, changing environment; and
Ability to be proactive, take initiative and work well independently without active management.
